Tales of Dunk and Egg: The Hedge Knight Review

Why you need to get G.R.R. Martin's The Hedge Knight (on Amazon)

It will come as a surprise to some but i was introduced to Dunk and Egg tales only few weeks ago. I am a huge fan of the Song of Ice and Fire book series and HBO's Game of Thrones super Cool TV show.

So it didn't take me long to get my hands on J.R.R. Martin's three Tales of Dunk and Egg from Amazon and check them out.

Everything that got to do with Dunk and Egg happened about 100 years prior to Robert Baratheon’s rebellion and tell us the story of young hedge knight who finds himself in a series of overwhelming situations that he wouldn't dream about. The story itself starts slowly but it is intriguing. The pace picks up as we progress with time but only after Dunken confronts the royal family princelings, things get exciting. the events in the beginning of the story we didn't think to be important reveal themselves as balance shifters. That is why the second part of the Hedge Knight short story was a lot more exciting and eventful.

The trial by battle was breath taking and the events that followed carried on with Martin's style of writing with his unexpecting surprises.
The Hedge Knight gave us another opportunity to go even deeper into the history of the incredible world J.R.R. Martin created in A Song Of Ice And Fire. Most particularly we got to dig even deeper into the Targaryen family history. We got to see and know even better the Targaryens and their many new and fresh family members compared to only Daenerys and a little of Viserys which we had in ASOIAF books.

I will admit that during my reading of the Hedge Knight I had difficulties to follow and grasp all the new Targaryen family members, I went to additional sources to get more details. I started to check out all the family trees of the Targaryen royal family that were introduced in the Hedge knight just to understand better who are all those new players that J.R.R. Martin brought to life from the vague story's and legends that were mentioned in ASOIAF books.
