Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Mid Season Review

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Still Mediocre

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had its mid season finale a couple of day ago. I took my time with the show because just like the entire season there was nothing to get hyped about for this Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. mid season finale.

The show itself keeps on being mediocre at best, a poor shell of Marvel’s summer blockbuster juggernauts. Marvels universe without the marvel superheroes is just like going out, ordering a steak and getting the salad instead. This is probably the best explanation of how the show looks through my eyes.
Phil Coulson remains the only interesting character in the show while the rest of the team looks to be mostly boring and sometimes even annoying.
Ward is a frozen zombie that portrays a stereotypical James Bond super spy without any personality.
Simmons and Fitz duo seems like a pair of geeks that is overexcited over every redundant gadget that is introduced in the show.
Sky was somehow interesting with her dark side in the beginning of the show but as her hidden motives were revealed her character stopped being tolerable.
The only reason that May is looking in a positive light on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is because she has nothing to say (most of the time) and the only thing that she is good for is kicking ass (what else would you want from a bad ass character).

The problem with most of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters is that they are not evolving and practically going nowhere. Coulson’s mysterious journey to the other side and back keeps him an interesting character. Sky used to be the same because her character changed at least from the viewer’s point of view. Unfortunately the rest of the characters are static. Joss Whedon tried to do something with May and Grant but a love story between those two robots is as exciting as watching Twilight. At some point in the middle of the season it was implied that there might be a thing between Simmons and Fitz to spice up their character but it seems like that love story was dropped before it began.

After watching half a season we had 2 super villains revealed, introduced to a few super soldiers and had practically nothing in between.
The villains Raina and Edison Po’s goal is mysteriously hidden and nobody knows where Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. creators want to go with the angle. That is one of the positive things that remained hidden in episode 10.

If you were watching the show until now for the sole purpose to say “Yea I watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, than it will be a lot more difficult to tune in when the show will continue in 2014. Other than that it was revealed that ABC got their head out of their asses and planned a few changes for the 2nd half of the season. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will get two more agents that hopefully will somehow revive the show from the dead mediocre state that it is in.
